What BFCSA Does...

BFCSA investigates fraud involving lenders, spruikers and financial planners worldwide.  Full Doc, Low Doc, No Doc loans, Lines of Credit and Buffer loans appear to be normal profit making financial products, however, these loans are set to implode within seven years.  For the past two decades, Ms Brailey, President of BFCSA (Inc), has been a tireless campaigner, championing the cause of older and low income people around the Globe who have fallen victim to banking and finance scams.  She has found that people of all ages are being targeted by Bankers offering faulty lending products. BFCSA warn that anyone who has signed up for one of these financial products, is in grave danger of losing their home.

Senior APS bureaucrats - rusted on and here to stay?

This must have been the motto of the Australian Public "Masters" for years! :D

The unelected have run the country. Look at the results. More bureaucracy and less democracy.

That's how they created "stability" - a hung parliament is the perfect justification.

And nothing really changes beyond the window dressing.

"Great coats on - great coats off"...

Their objective?

"Maintain the status quo and our positions and pay rises, our power and security ie. basically more of the same while politicians come and go. We run this country - forget that at your peril. Don't call us/treat us like public servants."

And they're nasty if you try to threaten them in any way - not really nasty publicly, of course. It's all behind closed doors - that's how political power works.

Remember, they are the keepers of the databases on all of us, including the politicians, who value their loyalty (huh) and discretion.
... or so they think lol!

Hence the ineffectiveness of Government, the wrong choices and the "media leaks" ... all in their own political or financial interests, often pretending it's in the national interest....blah blah.

All senior bureaucrats are simultaneously protecting their patch (and budget) while looking for the next opportunity for their own advancement.

That plus meetings, reading the paper, appearing to supervise a briefing paper, report or budget, being available to pick up phone calls or emails from the relevant minister, gazing out the window (for inspiration?), more meetings, strategic alliance building (lunch and other events), official duties (going to the openings of every oyster, etc).

"One has to be seen to be doing something but ensuring that one doesn't actually do anything without that being obvious."

"Our job is not to save the Government money but to be seen spending it judiciously and very conspicuously".

"Hurry up and wait"...

You thought we paid them for their expertise and skill?
Which expertise or particular skill would that be?Surviving the "office politics" for long enough to rise to the level of their own incompetence?
The only way to get rid of them when necessary is often a sideways promotion or the diplomatic service. It's a tradition.

There are many more stories from that particular vault - most unrepeatable.

This has happened because of the collective resistance, slowing down tactics and other subterfuge which is just too tiring to deal with in the end.

We can all see what a miserable and boring time the Independents are having in parliament - hamstrung by their own idealism, the system and politically powerless in their own right. What a waste of talent!

I wouldn't mind betting that's what both Dr John Laker and Greg Medcraft found - their performance track record shows this.

That's typical: Be seen to advertise for top class thoroughbreds and then park them like coach horses. Overpaid, under utilised.

Or it was a clever ploy to ensure that they could blame their staff when they were "promoted". That's also an APS tradition.

"You just have to wear it" - part of the job description?

Our senior bureaucrats are the masters of delegation and obfuscation.

Little wonder that Australia's whistleblower legislation is largely ineffective while Australian whistleblowers are not rewarded and recognised as the heroes they are as in other countries.

Hush money takes on a shovelful of new meanings here ...

I would prefer to see authentic democratic involvement despite the logistical challenges inherent in this approach, long range vision, planning for effective management, accurate costing, efficient resourcing of programs.

Our past does not define our future.

A healthier objective which will benefit more Australians? Let's start with a baseline: No more of the "same old same old" - a total overhaul.

But it will take a team of highly motivated and committed people with the experience and persistence to keep it up in order to budge the rusted on resistance within the Australian Public Service, their pseudo corporate quangos and the often misplaced attention of the politically savvy unions.

    Well said, Arree.
    They usually employ consultants to investigate or create changes. But very little ever changes for any length of time.
    For what it's worth I've given some thought to the processes and changes that I believe would produce a better, happier workplace for the administration and workers of Australia. It's possible that even the Unions would like it.
